The school districts surrounding Susanville have agreed to move the school start date to Monday, August 30th. This change is occurring due to the impact of evacuations and advisory warnings from the Dixie Fire on Richmond families, school personnel, and the community.
This change should not extend the school year as Richmond, surrounding districts, and the County will be filing a waiver for those days. The only change to the school calendar is that the built in snow day (May 27) will become a regular school day. An updated calendar will be available soon.
The first day of school is August 23, 2021 (Delayed Start)
Class Begins at 8:00 am ALL Students Released at 2:45 pm
Please remember to provide immunization records of your student's DTaP Booster to the school on or before the first day of school, August 19, 2021.
who we are
Nestled in the corner of the high desert, at the confluence of the Cascade and Sierra Nevada mountain ranges, Richmond School sits along what once was a wagon trail into Lassen County. Established in 1864, Richmond is the oldest, longest continuously operated school in Lassen County. In 2014, Richmond celebrated its 150th anniversary.
Serving a population of approximately 230 students, Richmond provides an enriching, yet standards-based curriculum for all students in grades kindergarten through eighth grade.
