Nestled in the corner of the high desert, at the confluence of the Cascade and Sierra Nevada mountain ranges, Richmond School sits along what once was a wagon trail into Lassen County. Established in 1864 Richmond is the oldest, longest continuously operated school in Lassen County. The Mission of Richmond School is to provide in a small school atmosphere - the highest possible, quality education;
- strong community connections;
- a strong foundation;
- preparation for each educational level in academics, athletics, the arts, technology, citizenship, and enrichment;
- excitement and desire for life long education.
Richmond School is consistently the highest performing school is Lassen County with an API of 827. Students receive a standards based curriculum and a full slate of extra and co curricular activities. Supported by an active Richmond Community Association, students experience a wide range of field trips and activities during their educational career at Richmond. Some of these activities include, the overnight Environmental Living Program at Sutter's Fort in 4th grade, a three day trip to San Francisco in eighth grade, and four days at Eagle Lake Environmental Camp in 6th grade. In fifth grade they will participate in skiing, an overnight camping trip to the Lava Beds, and a hike through Lassen Park. Younger students enjoy a trip to the Pumpkin Patch, Issac Roop Days, and numerous campus based activities such as Hundred Day celebration, Veteran's Day, Johnny Appleseed Day, and Chinese New Year. Richmond School is also the host of several Lassen County events; the Spelling Bee, the Geography Bowl, Science Fair, and Career Day!
