Dear Eighth Grade Parents,

8th Grade End-of-the-Year Trip Reminder

We leave tomorrow for our trip to Santa Clara and Santa Cruz.  The bus will be pulling out of Richmond School at 6:00 A.M.  This means you need to be here by at least 5:45 A.M.  We should be home Thursday night around 11:00 PM.  We will call as we get closer to home.

A few things to remember:

Bring sunscreen and sunglasses since we will be outside the majority of both days.

You will need money for three meals: one for lunch on the way down, dinner the first night, and dinner for the ride home.  Try to budget your money!  If you want, you can pack a lunch for the ride down.

Bring a swimsuit; you will be able to go swimming at the hotel.

School dress code still applies.  No short shorts or inappropriate tops.  Be sure to wear shoes you are comfortable walking in as we will be doing lots of walking.

Bring snacks and drinks for the bus ride down; it will save you some money, although we will stop to grab breakfast and lunch on the way down.

The Eighth Grade Trip will be Wednesday and Thursday, May 25 and 26 to Stanford University and the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.  We will be leaving at 6:00 AM on Wednesday morning.

Graduation is Wednesday, June 1st at 7:00 PM.  Students will have to report to the eighth grade classroom at 6:00 PM.  We officially started graduation practice this past week.  Students have volunteered for different speaking roles.  The valedictorian and salutatorian are giving speeches.  Just a reminder that boys must be wearing  nice dress shoes and slacks, and girls must wear school appropriate dresses and dress shoes.  If any of the girls are wearing heels, I encourage them to bring them in to practice walking.

For graduation, students are allowed to reserve two spots for their parents.  This ensures that two members of the family will be seated in an area in which they have a prime view of the student to take pictures or record the graduation.

The class is currently working on their slideshow for graduation.  Each student is responsible for three slides: one all about them, one about their friends, and another about their family.  Students may bring in hard copies of pictures to scan, have pictures on a flashdrive, or email them ahead of time to my email.

The Gower's have graciously offered to host the Graduation Part at their place after graduation.  I will be sending home fliers with more information as how you can help.

Thank you for your support!
